Alchermes

Sweet liqueur with a beautiful red color. Alchermes has been prepared since the last century by a congregation of Florentine friars, it is based on spices, aromas, and flavors of flowers macerated in alcohol with the addition of sugar, and colored with cochineal (a substance derived from ladybugs). Its gradation reaches up to 30-32%. It is widely used in patisserie.
