American lobster

The American lobster is a large crustacean with a blue-greenish shell that is often mistakenly considered the "male" of the red lobster with which, however, it has nothing to do, except belonging to the crustacean family and the red color that takes while cooking. Also referred to as "Atlantic lobster" or "Canadian lobster", it lives on rocky bottoms, at variable depths. The dimensions of the lobster range from 12 inches to 3 feet in length; the most common specimens, however, are small. The difference is very high, around 60 per cent: for this reason a lobster of 1-2 pounds is needed for 2 people.
