Buccellato

Buccellato is a typical Tuscan dessert made with leavened dough and sometimes enriched with candied fruit. It is shaped like a donut (the diameter can even reach 3 feet) and, in the Lucca countryside, it was once a tradition to give it to children on the occasion of their Confirmation. There is also a type of Sicilian buccellato, without candied fruit.
