Carambola

Carambola, also known as star fruit, is a fruit of a tropical plant grown mainly in India and Indonesia. It has a golden yellow skin with a large rib and an elongated shape reminiscent of that of pepper. The yellow pulp, very juicy, has a sour taste, which is similar to that of lemon and gooseberries. In the East, in fact, the fruit is used as a lemon.

In Italy the carambola is served cut into slices and sprinkled with sugar. It can be stored in the fridge for up to 4-5 days.
