Carob

Carob is a tree native to Asia Minor, but today also widely cultivated in Sicily. Its pod- shaped fruits are dark brown in color, flat and rather hard on the outside. This fruit has a sweet pulp and it is usually dried after harvest. However, today carobs are mostly intended for animal feed.
