Chanterelle

Chantarelle is a mushroom, which grows in all types of soil, generally under conifers and broad-leaved trees. It can be found from spring until autumn. The cap of this mushroom is funnel-shaped, in fact its name derives from the Greek «kàntaros», which means 'cup for drinks'. There are many varieties (none of them toxic) and one of the best known is the 'chantarellus cibarius'. The taste of chantarelle is sweet, while its smell reminds of ripe apples.
