Crouton

Crouton is a term used to define different preparations: a small nut of fried or toasted bread that is served with a broth or a pureed soup (in this case the term is used in the plural, that is, croutons); a slice of loaf or homemade bread covered with one or more ingredients and passed in the oven to heat, and finally a slice of homemade bread, especially the Tuscan one, spread with a mixture of giblets (calf liver, spleen or game entrails), flavoured with anchovies and finely chopped capers.
