Grapefruit

Grapefruit is a citrusfruit of Indian origin, which spread first in the Americas and then in Europe. Even in Italy, particularly in the southern regions, it is widely cultivated. There are two varieties: the yellow grapefruit , with a rather acidulous pulp and the pink or red grapefruit, with sweeter pulp, varying in color between pink and bright red.

Grapefruit is usually eaten divided horizontally in half; the wedges are removed with a special teaspoon with a serrated tip, or they are first detached from the peel and then separated from each other by using a curved serrated knife.

Grapefruit is excellent natural, but it is also used as an ingredient for appetizers, thirst-quenching drinks, sorbets and juices.
