Marjoram

Marjoram is a plant belonging to the Labiate family, native to Asia Minor and currently cultivated throughout the Mediterranean basin. It has a branched herbaceous stem and oval or roundish leaves, of a greyish green color and a velvety texture. The younger specimens, picked in summer just before flowering, have a very intense and penetrating scent.

Marjoram is an excellent flavouring for salads, but it is also used in fillings or to perfume meat, fish and poultry dishes. It is also commercially available dried.
