Mussel

Mussel is a bivalve mollusc, which ispurplish black on the outside and pearly on the inside. It has an elongated shape, more or less enlarged in the central part, pointed on one side and rounded on the other. The shellfish inside is orange in color, it can be opened raw with a short and wide knife, or it can be opened hot, placing it in a pan over high heat. The mussels that live attached to cliffs are often encrusted with seaweed and sand, therefore they require very careful washing and brushing. Mussel farms are also highly developed today, providing abundant safe production. These molluscs can be tasted cooked with garlic and parsley, au gratin and in soups.
