Port

Port is a wine produced in the Douro Valley in Portugal. Its production is quite complex, in fact it must age for at least five or six years in a barrel but it can take even thirty to sixty years to reach its full maturation.

There are different varieties of Port: the dry and extra-dry types are white; the semi-dry one has an amber color (Tawny); and finally the sweet one is of a ruby colour (Ruby). Its alcohol content is around 20°. This type of wine can be served both as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to cheeses, but sometimes it can be also used in sauces and dishes based on poultry.
