Sauce

The word sauce defines the base of a food cooked in a stew with the addition of tomato. It can be even roasted (for example the roast sauce). However, the same term also indicates a preparation used to season pasta, based on tomato, olive oil, flavourings, and possibly minced meat or vegetables.
