Strudel

Strudel is a famous dessert of Austrian origin (strudel in German means 'vortex') prepared with a thin sheet of pastry filled with a mixture of apples, breadcrumbs, raisins, sugar, melted butter and cinnamon. The pastry sheet is then rolled up with its filling and cooked in the oven. It is preferably served cold, but it is also excellent hot.

By extension today the same definition is used to indicate preparations consisting of a puff pastry roll filled with either fruit, vegetables or meat.
