Dry is a word which generally refers to a vermouth or a gin with a reduced quantity of sugar. However, it also defines those cocktails prepared with one of the two products indicated. On the other hand, applied to champagne it indicates a rather sweet wine, as opposed to «extra dry» and «brut» which means very dry.
