Fontal is a cheese made with cow's milk, similar to fontina both in shape and in texture, but unlike it fontal has a slightly sweeter flavour. While its paste is tender and compact, ivory white in color and with small regular holes, the rind is smooth and dry. Moreover, its forms are about 40 cm in diameter and 10 cm thick. It is an excellent table cheese but, thanks to its melting and stringy properties, it can be also used for cooking.
