Tartlet is a preparation made with shortcrust pastry and filled with different ingredients such as fruit, jam or cream. The filling can be either added to the tartlet previously cooked in the oven or it can be baked together with the pasta inside special molds with grooved edges.

By extension the same name is used to indicate savory preparations (always made with the same type of mold) based o shortcrust pastry and stuffed with ham or cheese, or even with other ingredients cut into julienne strips and served either cold or hot after cooking in the oven.
