Bergamot orange

Bergamot is a citrus fruit grown almost exclusively in Italy, in the Reggio Calabria area. The fruit, with a rather bitter taste, is not edible; supplies an essential oil used in confectionery (for the preparation of candied fruit), in liquor and in the field of perfumes. It seems that, once upon a time, modest quantities were used to flavor some types of leavened pasta.
