Croque Monsieur

Croque-Monsieur is a hot sandwich made of two slices of buttered toast, filled with slices of Gruyère and lean raw ham. The croque-monsieur can be heated under the grill or sautéd in a pan greased with butter. If it is served with an egg on the eye it is called "croque-madame".
